Marsha Hunt burst onto the London hippie scene with a role in the smash West End production of the musical Hair in 1968. She only had a few lines in her role as ‘Dionne’ but her striking portrait was used to promote the show and appreared on billboards and newspapers all over the country. She had relationships with Marc Bolan of T-rex and Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones. The song ‘Brown Sugar’ was about written by Jagger about Hunt, and together they have a daughter, Karis Jagger. Martha was the first black model to appear on the cover of British fashion Magazine Queen, and also featured in British Vogue appearing nude in an iconic image shot by Patrick Lichfield.
