When you think of the hey day of 90’s children’s television (which we often do) you’re mainly thinking of the big hitters like Buffy, Sabrina the teenage witch, Sweet Valley High. . . but do you remember ‘The secret world of Alex Mack’?

Played by Larisa Oleynik (who played Bianca in the cult film 10 things I hate about you), Alex mack is hit by a truck on the way home from her first day at junior high, and is drenched in a secret chemical. After the incident she soon discovers that she has developed special powers including telekinesis, shooting electricity out of her fingers and glowing bright yellow when nervous. She also developed a killer sense of style that was daily inspiration to us as little re-viewers. Her easy, 90’s tomboy layering, with lots of denim, pops of colour and always a hat was the height of pre-teen cool, and feels right again for now.
